Hopefully Big Cat doesn’t mind I’m using his likeness.
Weeks seem so much longer and move so much slower with football at the end of the tunnel, or maybe that’s just me. CFB Week 3, let’s go.
In case you forgot, I did not do well last week. But it’s a new week and just going through with this preview has given me some good ideas, hopefully I can be profitable.
MORTAL LOCK: Boise State @ Oklahoma State OVER 64
MORTAL LOCK: Rutgers +2.5 @ Kansas
Florida State @ Syracuse OVER 68
LSU +10 @ Auburn
Duke @ Baylor OVER 49
USC +3 @ Texas
Washington -5 @ Utah
Houston -1.5 @ Texas Tech
Disclaimer: Picks not versus the spread
4 Ohio State (-12.5) vs 15 TCU 8:00 PM
This game is at Jerry World in Dallas. Might make you think it will be like a TCU home game, but I’m not convinced. OSU will travel plenty well, and I don’t see them having much trouble here. I do see TCU covering the spread, but it won’t be that close of a game.
My Pick: Ohio State
12 LSU @ 7 Auburn (-10) 3:30 PM
Beautiful mid-afternoon SEC action. Auburn minus 10 surprises me, feels like no one is giving Coach O and LSU much respect. Auburn had the bigger week 1 win over Washington, but if you watched that game it was clear that Auburn escaped with the W. LSU, on the other hand, won their big non-conference game over Miami in convincing fashion. Yes, Washington was a better opponent, but they beat Auburn up throughout that game, just not on the scoreboard. Anyway, look forward to this one, I’m going with the underdog.
My Pick: LSU
17 Boise State @ 24 Oklahoma State (-2.5) 3:30 PM
Here’s your “LSU Auburn went to commerical” game. I don’t know much about Boise State this year but they murdered UConn last week 62-7. They can definitely score, and they are playing a Big 12 team, sounds like I’m taking the over. OK State has not been tested yet. Wins over Missouri State and South Alabama don’t tell me anything, but they’re home and are going to be juiced up for a ranked matchup, I’m with the Pokes here.
My Pick: Oklahoma State, OVER 64
22 USC @ Texas (-3) 8:00 PM
Here’s the “Would’ve been a more interesting game if Texas was back” game. How in God’s name are they favored? I know they’re home but USC is coming off a tough game at Stanford that they stayed in far longer than most expected. Coach Herman and UT are definitely feeling the pressure to perform in Austin, this seems like an early make or break game for them. Regardless, I’m going with USC because Texas isn’t back, and I think the Trojans have something to prove and will deny Texas their 900th win in school history.
My Pick: USC
10 Washington (-5) @ Utah 10:00 PM
And finally the PAC 12 comes through with the “No, College Football Saturday isn’t over yet” game. Utah’s the 2-0, untested team, Washington is the 1-1 pissed they lost so early team. Washington’s defensive front was impressive against Auburn, and Jake Browning is still a stud at QB. I have the Huskies winning easily on the road.
My Pick: Washington
We have Chax’s picks after a week off. He was very disappointed after going 0 for 2 week one. Here you go:
17 Boise State @ 24 Oklahoma State
12 LSU @ 9 Auburn
The dog goes with 2 underdogs. Good luck Chax.
Picks for the Rest
Or at least for the rest of games of interest.
Florida State (-2.5) @ Syracuse I hate to do this to Cuse, especially since I’ll be there, but we don’t have the dudes or the defense to pull this one off.
Oklahoma (-17.5) @ Iowa State
Rutgers @ Kansas (-2.5)
Hawaii @ Army (-6.5)
Georgia Tech (-4) @ Pittsburgh
Vanderbilt @ Notre Dame (-13.5)
Duke @ Baylor (-6)
Houston (-1.5) @ Texas Tech
Alabama @ Mississippi
Missouri (-6) @ Purdue
Enjoy it this weekend and GO CUSE!
Just clearing the air.
