Clean Smoke’s Wrap-Up is here GET PUMPED!

Upsets, upsets, upsets once again. These past 2 weeks are prime examples of why college football is so great. Literally anything can happen any week. It’s the madness of March Madness but every single weekend for the whole season.

Let’s wrap it up.

Bets (2-4 this week)

MORTAL LOCK (3-5)

Colorado +7 @ USC, Final : USC 31 Colorado 20 LOSS

I’m done picking locks just to have one. I will only declare a mortal lock if I truly am 100% certain. From this mistake, I learned that USC is USC for a reason. They just had far more talent than Colorado.

Favorites:

Virginia Tech (-6) @ North Carolina, Final: VT 22 UNC 19 LOSS

On the road, night game, following a loss in a big game. I should not have had so much confidence in the Hokies.

UCF -4.5 @ Memphis, Final: UCF 31 MEM 30 LOSS

I bet on Memphis to cover a 2 touchdown spread as a favorite a few weeks ago against Tulane, they lost outright. Now I bet against them, and with a team that has been dominant and this happens. Fuck Memphis, I’m avoiding all bets on their games from now until the end of time.

Underdog:

Duke +2.5 @ Georgia Tech, Final: Duke 28 GT 14 WIN

Oh, and I had the money line, didn’t even want the points. It wasn’t all bad!

Under:

Virginia Tech @ UNC Under 58, Final total: 41 WIN

My reasoning was on point for this. Can’t lose ’em all!

Over:

West Virginia @ Iowa State Over 56, Final total: 44 LOSS

Iowa State has just decided to be good these past couple weeks. Holding WVU to 14 points is insanity.

Picks

Big Games: 2-1

The Rest: 8-6 (4-9 ATS)

My promise to you, my dedicated fans, is that I WILL be better against the spread going forward. There have been so many upsets in these last couple weeks, it’s time to take advantage now that I’m getting more of a feel for the pulse of CFB nation.

Upsets, Upsets, Upsets

Tennessee @ 21 Auburn (-15), FINAL: TENN 30 AUB 24

We continue to learn that Auburn is just not that good. They’ll be lucky to get 2 more wins for bowl eligibility at this point. They still have Texas A&M, Georgia, and Alabama left on their schedule. Not a good time for Gus Malzhan

Michigan State @ 8 Penn State (-13.5), FINAL: MSU 21 PSU 17

Poor, poor Penn State. Such a shame Nittany Lion nation has to deal with the harsh reality that they just aren’t that good, a thought that has never once entered their minds, ever.

7 Washington (-3) @ 17 Oregon, FINAL: ORE 30 WASH 27 (OT)

Crazy game. Not to brag but I was only a point off in my predictions. Oregon is in an interesting spot now. Only 1 loss in heartbreaking fashion but even if they win out and win the PAC 12, will that be enough for them to get a bid to the playoff?

2 Georgia (-7) @ 13 LSU, FINAL: LSU 36 UGA 16

The Tigers are back in a big way. College Gameday was so wrong to not go to Baton Rouge for this one. But I bet I know where they’ll be November 3rd when Coach O and LSU welcome Nick Saban and the Tide to Death Valley.

16 Miami (-7.5) @ Virginia, FINAL: UVA 16 MIAMI 13

6 West Virginia (-4.5)@ Iowa State, FINAL: ISU 30 WVU 14

As I said last week, Iowa State is the biggest bitch team in the country. They will absolutely suck and then miraculously pull out major upsets, in the case, in back-to-back weeks. The fucking Cyclones.

Weird Shit Happens in College Football

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

Alabama is finally getting Tua and Jalen Hurts on the field at the same time. This isn’t even the best example but wow the rest of the country is even more fucked than we thought.

Catch of the Year of the Week

https://twitter.com/ESPNCFB/status/1051290028473749505

I’ve watched that like 30 times and I’m still not sure I’m convinced it happened.

What did we learn this week?

No one is safe…except Alabama.

No one gave LSU a chance against Georgia, they won by 20, West Virginia got knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten, Pittsburgh took Notre Dame into the 4th quarter, even UCF narrowly escaped Memphis with their nation-leading win streak intact. I don’t see this trend of mania ending anytime soon.

Oregon is very back in the mix.

With that statement win over Washington, they have definitely buried that loss to Stanford deep. They’ve got the 25th ranked Washington State Cougars on the road next week, that’s there only remaining game against a ranked team as it stands. They’ll need some help, but if the Ducks run the table don’t be surprised if they find themselves in the CFB Playoff.

New Coaches: Chip Kelly is going to figure it out at UCLA, Scott Frost is sad, Kevin Sumlin will have trouble at Arizona.

Close loss to Washington last week, now he got his first win with the Bruins convincingly beating California 37-7. Give them a couple years and the PAC 12 south will really heat up.

In the midwest, Scott Frost has led his Alma Mater to their first 0-6 start in school history. Not a good look but they have winnable games coming up on their schedule. Programs going through culture overhauls will experience growing pains. I trust Frost to have the Huskers back in contention in no time.

Arizona just looks laughably bad. Naturally, I bet on them to cover against Utah. You think about Sumlin and TAMU, he didn’t do that well. Now he’s in an increasingly competitive PAC 12 South, I think he’s going to have trouble righting the ship.

Next Week

College Gameday heads to Washington State for their game against Oregon. I would’ve liked to see them go to NC State Clemson, but they’ve been to Clemson so many times. If that was in Raleigh, I’d be pissed they chose a game between two 1-loss teams over 2 undefeated teams. Here’s the rest of the good match-ups:

6 Michigan (-7.5) @ 24 Michigan State

9 Oklahoma (-7.5) @ TCU

16 NC State @ 3 Clemson (-16)

Colorado @ 15 Washington (-15.5)

22 Mississippi State @ 5 LSU (-7)

12 Oregon @ 25 Washington State (EVEN)

Initial Betting Thoughts: I love the Wolfpack +16, Colorado +15.5, and Oregon.

Just clearing the air and becoming a smarter bettor.
